2 wks to shows + what happened in Mexico ?
Oct 20, 2012
, I am back from Mexico with a quick debrief on the trip, reminders about our upcoming November quartet concerts, and a question for you!
Mexico wrap-up - olé!
Last week, Bryan Davis who you’ve seen play lead trumpet in the Orchestrotica big band accompanied me to Mexico for meetings, jam sessions, and hangs as we prepare the band for a bi-national big band concert in 2013 in the DF with members of Orquesta Victor Guzman. We met up with Maestro Guzman, sat in with their band during their rehearsal on two numbers (Mr. Ho on drums, Bryan on trumpet), and then read a few of our Esquivel transcriptions down. It was a good time and we look forward to presenting a multi-national Orchestrotica in early 2013. I also got to meetup with some Mexican fans including Rodrigo H and Juanin E who traveled 2 hours to get copies of our CDs! Stay tuned for details, photos and video from our visit. However, before we go space-age, it’s time for two quartet exotic quartet concerts closer to home:
11/2 Boston show + concert review!
Got your tickets yet for our November 2 concert? We’re excited to share that an arts blog will be reviewing the concert, so please come out and show your support! Details below and on the ticket purchasing link. We’re excited to be presenting more exotically-reinterpreted Gershwin - you know, with Siamese flavor. If you’re new to our global-jazz-and-exotic-chamber-music-mashups, check out the videos and audio on the quartet’s webpage (and download free music at the bottom of this email). Finally, don’t forget that young folks 18 and under are just $5 at the door so it’s a good chance to expose somebody new to Mr. Ho’s Orchestrotica!
If you’ve gotten your tickets already and plan to come, head over to Facebook to RSVP for the show and consider sharing the Boston concert link on your Facebook and Twitter accounts too!
11/3 NYC show
No advance tickets needed. $15 suggested donation collected at the show (see below or this concert info link). You can also RSVP to the Brooklyn show on Facebook and share the Brooklyn concert link on your Facebook and Twitter accounts.
